Survival Foods

This is another tentative business idea that grows out of many years of contemplating questions about how we could do "survival foods" better. I am hoping to raise the bar on quality over canned goods and MRE-style foods and help people improve their quality of life in places like rural Alaska where fresh produce is hard to get at all and very expensive when you can get it, among other goals.

Like with the previous one, you are free to borrow some of these ideas on the condition you do not try to act like they were YOUR ideas and I and other people are stealing YOUR ideas when the reality is you are using mine. I reserve the right to use these ideas as the basis for a business at some point or a jumping off point for a business which may pivot from this initial concept.

Soup Stuffers

Individual packets of dried veggies or dried veggies plus beef jerky and a little salt, enough to fill up a ramen cup and turn ramen noodles into veggie soup or veggie soup with beef. I always add salt to my cold prep ramen when adding fresh veggies, so these should probably include salt or a salt packet. Ideally, this should work as either cold prep ramen or hot prep ramen -- tap water OR boiling water added.

Basic recipe: Dried mushrooms, sun dried tomatoes (plain), dried celery, salt.

Variations:
Zesty: Includes spiced sun dried tomatoes instead of plain.
Beef: With beef jerky added.
Plus Onions: With dried onions added.

Pizzas

Basic Recipe: Hearty pizza crust rounds, sun dried tomatoes, dried mushrooms, dried onions, packet of olive oil.

Variations:
Sweet and sour: Basic recipe plus dried pineapple and dried peppers.
Non-vegetarian: Basic recipe plus cubed pepperoni.
Sweet and sour non-vegetarian: With pineapple, peppers and pepperoni.
Cheesy: Basic recipe plus parmesan or romano cheese.

Staples Helper

I would like to put together ideas for "cook fresh potatoes/rice/etc, add this packet of dried veggies and spices at some point in the cooking process for a terrific and easy meal."

Tentative first recipe: Dried corn, dried onion, dried peppers, packet of clarified butter for adding to cooked potatoes.

Extras

When I was homeless, I so desperately wished I could get a small plastic squeeze bottle (4 to 6 ounces) of clarified butter or ghee, a form of real butter that is shelf stable and keeps for several weeks without refrigeration. SOMEONE should MAKE this happen.

Also, instead of making up separate packets of basic recipe PLUS x, "extras" could be "packet of x to add to our basic recipe." So packets of hard cheeses, packets of dried onions, packets of beef jerky, etc.
